RE: A/C Freeze-up

A couple things can cause freezing up of the coils - 1 - poor air flow across the coils. Too many outlets closed (if a ducted unit) or only opening one end, of the discharge on a non-ducted unit. Dirty filter. Something in the duct blocking air flow. The coils are dirty and reducing air flow. 2 - the barrier that separates the return and discharge, behind the register is dislodged (allowing air to recirculate in the plenum chamber). 3 - Improperly installed or defective freeze switch - there is a small thermistor on a pair of wires that pushes into the coils. This switch detects a freeze-up and cycles the compressor.

RE: smi stay-in-play braking system

I have the the Stay-n-Play and use it in both my 04 Wrangler Rubicon and 08 Liberty. When I got the Liberty, I bought and additional vehicle installation kit and installed it in the Liberty. Now I swap the box from the Liberty to the Rubicon, depending on which I am towing.

RE: Have ? about dry camping 7 days in a class C

Everyone here is right on target, to help get you through your week of dry camping. As stated, water will be the big issue. So as not to repeat what everyone else has said, here is my shortened list - Get a shower cut off valve to help save on water while showering. The cutoff that comes on the shower heads, if equipped, allows quite a bit of water to run while you are soaping up. The cutoff valves can be purchased at any hardware store for around $6. http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-31048198669849_2008_22224780 These valve still allow a small dribble of water to keep it from getting cold, but are a great water saver. As to batteries - make sure the fuel tank is full when you start your stay... the generator fuel pick-up is high in the tank and the generator will not usually run when the fuel level drop to below a quarter tank. Secondly, the battery charge rate will vary according to the load you place on the generator - if you start the generator and do not run appliances, the batteries will charge much faster than if you were trying to run an AC (or other big electric user). Let us know how you make out on your trip.

RE: National Recall on Jayco Seneca Super C to be announced

The response you received from Jayco does not surprise me in the least. I like our 35GS and plan to keep it for a long time... but our next motorhome will not be a Jayco. I wouldn't take another product from them if they tried to give it to me.

RE: SMI silent partner

I'd start by moving the power wire for the SMI controler to a tap that was hot all the time, and not have to have the key turned to the accessory position while towing. I have been using the Silent Partner for the past three years. In that time I have never had the battery drained. During over-night stops I turn off the Silent Partner, and turn it back on the next morning before towing. When first installed, there were no clamps used on the hoses. After about two years the vacuum pump started running frequently. I checked the system and found small leaks at a few of the hose connections. I used wire ties, and a clamping tool, to stop the leaks and everything was back to normal.

RE: Seneca BBQ

We have used ours, a lot. Really only good for cooking for 2-3 people. I would feel the side of the MH when I first started using the RVQ, but never felt the siding heat up. I always leave the cover on, even if I just leave it open, to have available in case of a flare-up. Enjoy!

RE: The Rally - March 12 - 17, 2008 Perry, GA

I won't do this again. Got here at 7 this morning and parked right away. Forty acres to park the fifth wheel on the end of the row, and they park him so close that I can't put my awning out (well half way). I just know that this is going to be one long weekend:( Good news, partial anyway. - the wife ran into our neighbors at the registration and they kindly moved their fifth wheel over another ten feet, or so, and now we have a little breathing room. Now to add some 'injury to the insult' (yea, its backwards) - got handicapped parking since I'm confined to my wheelchair. You would think that the handicap parking was a little closer to the attractions... no. We are parked a good quarter mile from the clock tower... you can't get any further from the center and still be on the grounds. Now, they do have trans running and in the handicap area, they even have carts to get you to the trans. Only problem... no wheelchair access. Pure BS! We have a wheelchair lift on the TOAD, but how and where to park... no one can tell us. Guess its a trip to the Rally office today to find out how to get to the arena for the entertainment, tonight. Didn't have these problems at "The Rally" in Daytona (2006). At the speedway they had the carts that carried wheelchairs. They few Rally officials here blame the situation on the Agricenter, saying they provide the equipment. Rant done... I guess every once in a while you just have to put up with some bad stuff and get over it. No, you never have to "put up with" illegal discrimination. Good news is - a few emails I sent out this morning got to the right people and the powers-to-be have remedied the situation.

RE: The Rally 2008 in Perry, GA - 15 Questions / Advice

Will there be wifi there? At the Rally in Daytona, year before last, they had a media room with wifi and phone lines. At the GA State Samboree last year, I had wifi at the Agricenter but it could have been from one of the other attendees.

RE: Satellite on Seneca

Thanks for the input... I think I'll spring for a dish pretty soon.

RE: Satellite on Seneca

Thanks Snowman. Did they put the dish where the antenna was? Or did you keep the antenna and add the dish more toward the centerline?

Satellite on Seneca

Have been contemplating adding a satellite dish to the top off our Seneca. Our Seneca is a 2005 35GS. I don't want to do away with the Winegard antenna. Anyone added a dish to the top of their Seneca? I don't want to do away with the antenna as there will be times that I still can't get satellite service... trees, Alaska, etc... I don't want to use a portable dish since I have a bad leg and can not get out on occasion to set up the dish. Any input would be appreciated.

RE: Does the 2008 Jeep Liberty accumulate mileage when towed?

I have a new 08 Liberty. Have only towed it a couple hundred miles but, no mileage added during tow. I have not been disconnecting the battery. No problems.

RE: SMI in 08 Jeep Liberty?

I took the control box out to the Liberty today - I don't think it will fit under the driver seat... unless you remove the seat and recess the box up into the seat (doable?). Best bet may be to install the control box in the recessed storage well in the cargo area. Would have to route the hoses a long ways. I don't think I'll have a chance to get anything done before my surgery on Thursday... and then, who knows when?????

SMI in 08 Jeep Liberty?

Been using the SMI Silent Partner/Stay n Play brake system in the Jeep Wrangler. Now have bought an 08 Jeep Liberty and plan to swap the control box between both vehicles. I purchased the towed vehicle install kit so that all I have to move is the control box between the two vehicles. Has anyone installed the SMI in their 08 Liberty? Where did you install the control box? (I had the control box under the front seat of the Wrangler.) Where did you route the hoses in the Liberty? Where did you route the hoses, and wiring, through the firewall? Thanks!

RE: Anyone Self-Installed Front Shocks on a Kodiak?

Thanks for all the info. I have been happy with the ride and handling of our 35GS... except when pulling onto a road from a side road/drive with a dip----rock-n-roll time. I think I'll try and get some installed before the spring trip.
